On July 13, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), together with the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), held an online workshop on the US-Russia interaction at present and after COVID-19 epidemic.

The online workshop focused on the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the development of relations between Russia and the U.S., the consequences of tensions between the U.S. and China for Russia, as well as the influence of the domestic political situation in the U.S. on the development of Russia-the U.S relations in the context of the upcoming elections. The discussion was attended by Russian and American experts.

Opening speeches were made by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Susan Elliott, former U.S. Ambassador, NCAFP President and CEO. Speakers on the Russian side included: Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs; Sergey Rogov, Academic Director of RAS Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies (ISKRAN), RIAC Member; Dmitry Suslov, RIAC Member, Deputy Director of the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the Higher School of Economics; and Viktoriya Zhuravleva, Head of Center for North American Studies, Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO). The speakers on the U.S. side were: Thomas Graham, Distinguished Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, Senior Advisor at Kissinger Associates, Inc.; John Tefft, former U.S. Ambassador; and Celeste Wallander, U.S. Russia Foundation President and CEO. Natalya Vyakhireva and Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Managers, Alevtina Larionova, RIAC Program Coordinator, Daria Terkina and Yulia Timofeeva, RIAC Program Assistants, represented RIAC at the event.
