On May 31, prizes were awarded to winners and laureates of the 2nd Russian Contest of Young Foreign Policy Scholars “Global Prospects” held by RIAC and Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support. The papers were assesses by 39 experts from key Russian think tanks including RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations, RAS Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies, RAS Institute for Latin American Studies, RAS Institute for African Studies, MGIMO-University, Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Higher School of Economics.

On May 31, prizes were awarded to winners and laureates of the 2nd Russian Contest of Young Foreign Policy Scholars “Global Prospects” held by RIAC and Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support.

Over 120 papers were presented within four nominations:

- Best PhD dissertation
- Best monograph
- Best article published in a journal
- Best translation of a foreign article or monograph

The papers were assesses by 39 experts from key Russian think tanks including RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations, RAS Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies, RAS Institute for Latin American Studies, RAS Institute for African Studies, MGIMO-University, Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Higher School of Economics.

Opening the ceremony, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov thanked the participants for interest to various segments of the foreign relations and underlined the importance of developing education and research in the area since Russian foreign policy badly needs high-quality independent expertise. To this end, support of young promising experts is an absolute must.

Natalie Burlinova, Program Director at Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support, also addressed the gathering, pointing out the growing number of works on public diplomacy, which seems quite timely due to unending sophistication of the international landscape.

RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov spoke about current RIAC activities and projects in the planning. The ceremony participants expressed lively interest to “Global Science”, RIAC School and the opportunity to have their papers posted at the RIAC portal. At the same time RIAC leaders invited them to take part to analytical and expert assessment efforts.

Best PhD Dissertation on Foreign Affairs in 2012
