Opening remarks were made by Rose Gottemoeller, former Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security at the U.S. State Department. The speech touched upon the issues of Russia-the U.S. and Russia-NATO relations.
Experts from Russia and the EU took part in the discussion. RIAC was represented by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Natalya Vyakhireva, RIAC Program Manager.

This discussion was organized within ELN "Go Big" project, RIAC being a partner. The project was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, when states, in addition to immediate healthcare challenges, face serious economic and political difficulties with implications for global security. According to experts, at this time, in order to overcome the challenges, it is necessary to coordinate efforts at all levels, including Track II. Within the framework of the project, three working groups on certain matters have been established. The groups consist of representatives of the older, middle age and younger generations. The groups are elaborating ideas and proposals to overcome the current challenges. The project participants consider it necessary to ensure conditions for reducing security challenges and strengthening international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and its consequences.
