On October 16, 2021, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) held a special section “The African Vector of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation”. It was organized within the framework of the XIII Russian International Studies Association (RISA) Convention “To the 30th Anniversary of the Foreign Policy of the New Russia” at MGIMO University. The section was combined with the 4th Meeting of the Scientific Council at the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.

On October 16, 2021, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) held a special section “The African Vector of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation”. The section was combined with the 4th Meeting of the Scientific Council at the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.

The participants of the section discussed the possibilities of overcoming the obstacles arising in the path of the development of Russia-Africa relations. In particular, there was a discussion on the absence of a mechanism for economic cooperation with the countries of the continent, counteraction to the growth of Russia's influence in Africa on the part of global players, as well as of the formation of the image of Africa in Russia and Russia in Africa. In addition, the participants discussed the difficulties caused by the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, as well as coups and their consequences.

From the side of the RIAC, the event was attended by: Irina Abramova, Director of the Institute for African Studies of the RAS, RIAC Member; Denis Degterev, Professor at the Faculty of International Relations, MGIMO University, RIAC Expert; Nikita Panin and Ivan Bocharov, Program Assistants at the RIAC.
