Opening remarks were made by Giulio Tremonti, President of Aspen Institute in Rome, and Pasquale Terracciano, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Russian Federation. They both noted the importance of the Forum as a step towards the development of a dialog. Marta Dassù, Senior Advisor of European Affairs at the Aspen Institute, and Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, spoke at the opening of the Forum.
The European side was represented by experts from think tanks and NGOs. On the Russian side, the Forum was attended by leading experts on Russia-EU and Russia-the U.S. relations, experts on climate change and the green economy, as well as on Russia-EU relations in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The Forum participants noted that despite the existing disagreements on global challenges, there are areas of mutual interest between Russia and the EU countries where dialog is possible.
