On October 11 2016 a group of RIAC members met with Fernando Andresen Guimaraes, Head of the Russia Division in the European External Action Service (EEAS), who is now on a visit in Moscow.

On October 11 2016 a group of RIAC members met with Fernando Andresen Guimaraes, Head of the Russia Division in the European External Action Service (EEAS), who is now on a visit in Moscow.

The meeting was attended by Alexey Gromyko,  Director of the RAS Institute of Europe and RIAC member; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; and Dmitry Trenin, Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center and RIAC member.

Other participants in the meeting included Andrey Kolesnikov, Chair of the Russian Domestic Politics and Political Institutions Program at the Carnegie Moscow Center, politician Vladimir Milov, as well as officers of the European Union Delegation to Russia.

The meeting was moderated by Vygaudas Usackas, European Union Ambassador to the Russian Federation, and Sven-Olov Carlsson, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Russia. The participants discussed the results of the last parliamentary elections in Russia, the development dynamics of the Russian political system, the state and prospects of relations between Russia and the European Union and the West as a whole and possible interaction between Russia and the EU in crisis situations in the Middle East and other regions of the world.
