On August 17, 2023, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) together with Institute of International Studies of Fudan University (China) held an international conference “Russia – China Dialogue and the International Order”.
Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director General, and Feng Yujun, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Studies, Director of the Center for Russia and Central Asia Studies at Fudan University, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.
The conference was held in two sessions. The former dealt with the development of political interaction in the regional and global context. The issues of the evolution of the world order and the intensification of great-power competition, as well as Russia-China-U.S. and Russia-China-India strategic triangles, have been raised. The emphasis was placed on international cooperation platforms (BRICS, SCO, RIC) where the two countries interact to promote a new international order and develop closer partnership in Greater Eurasia.

During the session, presentations were made by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Advisor, Xin Qiang, Professor at the Center for American Studies, Fudan University, Alexander Lomanov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations, RAS, Zhang Jiadong, Professor at the Center for American Studies, Director of the Center for South Asian Studies, Fudan University, Yuri Kulintsev, Deputy Director, Director of the Center for World Policy and Strategic Studies, RAS Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, and Zhang Jiegen, Associate Professor, Center for South Asian Studies, director of the Center for Pakistan Studies, Fudan University.
Economic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing was touched upon in a thought-provoking discussion during the second session. In particular, the participants focused on the current and future state of the Sino-Russian partnership in the energy, financial and technological sectors, as well as global supply chains, B2B and B2C communication.
Sergey Tsiplakov, Professor at the Faculty of World Economy and International Relations, Senior Researcher at the International Laboratory of World Order Research and New Regionalism, HSE University, Ivan Danilin, the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations, RAS, Wei Zongyu, Professor of the Center for American Studies, Fudan University, Raisa Epikhina Junior Research Fellow, Lomonosov State University, Zheng Jiyong, Director of the Center for Korean Studies, Fudan University, Yekaterina Zaklyazminskaya, Senior Research Fellow, Center for World Policy and Strategic Studies, RAS Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, and Xing Liju, Professor at the Centre for Korean Studies, Fudan University voiced their views with regard to the agenda.
