On July 1-4, 2014, with sponsorship of Moscow-based Gorchakov Foundation for Public Diplomacy, representatives of Russian nongovernmental organizations visited Yerevan for a series of meetings with Armenian civil society groups and think tanks. The delegation included the Gorchakov Foundation members, Aza Migranyan and Andrey Areshev, both Caucasus experts, and RIAC Program Assistant Ilya Ivanov.
On July 1-4, 2014, with sponsorship of Moscow-based Gorchakov Foundation for Public Diplomacy, representatives of Russian nongovernmental organizations visited Yerevan for a series of meetings with Armenian civil society groups and think tanks. The delegation included the Gorchakov Foundation members, Aza Migranyan and Andrey Areshev, both Caucasus experts, and RIAC Program Assistant Ilya Ivanov.
In Yerevan, the Russian team met representatives of NGO Amberd, All-Armenian Youth Center Serund, research and education center Noravank, the Institute of Caucasus and some other organizations, and also took part in events organized by the State Economic University of Armenia and Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. The discussions covered regional security, economic development of Armenia and its neighbor states, as well as advancement of Russian-Armenian cooperation. Upon presenting their analytical papers, Armenian NGOs and think tanks earned acclaim of their Russian guests.
Summarizing the results, both sides stressed the significance of contacts between civil activists and analysts of the two countries, with RIAC looking forward to extend cooperation with willing partners within its research project on the Caucasus.
