On September 30, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council in cooperation with the Consortium of American, European and Russian universities held a round table “Prospects for Russia-West relations”.
The discussion covered the prospects for development of Russia-EU-US relations following Brexit, the presidential election in the United States, and the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

The discussion was attended by experts from the US, the EU, and Russia, as well as by RIAC members.
The participants included: Thomas Graham, Professor at Yale University; Desmond Browne, former UK Secretary of State for Defense (2006-2008); Prof. Roy Allison, Director of the Russian and Eurasian Studies Center at Oxford University; Sir Roderic Lyne, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Russian Federation (2002-2004); Alexey Arbatov, Head of the Center for International Security of Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations (RAS IMEMO) and RIAC member; Alexey Gromyko, Director of RAS Institute of Europe and RIAC member; Vitaly Zhurkin, Director Emeritus of RAS Institute of Europe and RIAC member; Vladimir Baranovsky, Head of RAS Center for Situational Analysis and RIAC member; Sergei Rogov, Director of RAS Institute for US and Canadian Studies and RIAC member; Mark Entin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg (2012-2016); Andrei Melville, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Higher School of Economics and RIAC member, and many others.
The meeting was opened by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov and Julie Newton, Leading Researcher at the Universities’ Consortium.
