The discussion focused on topical security issues in the Middle East region, including the restoration of a multilateral agreement on the Iran nuclear deal, recent terrorist attacks on Israel’s territory, attempts to create a NATO for the Arab states by the Biden administration, the impending food shortage in the Middle East and North Africa, increased volatility of global hydrocarbon prices, etc.
Russian side was represented by Irina Zvyagelskaya, RIAC Member, Head of the Center for the Middle East Studies at RAS IMEMO, Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies at MGIMO MFA, Senior Researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; and Elena Suponina, RIAC Expert.
