On July 2–3, 2018, Vienna hosted a European Council on Foreign Relations expert meeting on current relations between the European Union and Russia.

The meeting was attended by experts, diplomats and officials from several European countries, including Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and other. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Fyodor Lukyanov, RIAC Member, Editor-in-Chief of "Russia in Global Affairs" magazine, and Aleksey Chesnakov, director of the Center for Current Politics, represented Russia at the event.
