September 18 - RIAC hosted an expert meeting titled “Russian-Indian relations: the new agenda of military & technical cooperation”. The meeting was held as part of the Russia-India: to a New Agenda in Bilateral Relations Project. RIAC member and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, Army General Vyacheslav Trubnikov chaired the meeting. Chief researcher at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Science, A.G. Volodin, and Prof. Sergey Lunev of the Department of Oriental Studies, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia co-chaired the meeting.

RIAC General Director Andrei Kortunov opened the meeting. Experts from Russia’s Institute for Strategic Studies and the Carnegie Moscow Center, heads of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies and Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade attended the meeting. The following issues were discussed:
- The Indian market of arms and military technical services: economic and non-economic factors of influence.
- The Russian market of arms and military technical services: specifics of proposals.
- Military technical cooperation between Russia and India: structure, volume and forecast of their changes.
- The influence of India’s military technical potential on regional security.
An analytical report is expected to be issued upon results of the discussion.
Two other expert meetings will be held under the project.
