On November 1, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) together with the Synergy Foundation (Bangalore, India) held a round table “Russia and India: Cooperation in Food Security”. The event was attended by government agencies, business and academia from both countries.
Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director General, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Director, and Ranjan Mathai, former Indian Foreign Minister delivered welcoming remarks.
The speakers highlighted the progress of Russian-Indian trade in agriculture and the prospects for increased trade turnover in this field. The experts named high administrative barriers and customs duties, as well as long shipping as the most pressing challenges of Russian—Indian agricultural cooperation.
