On September 11, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), hosted the first expert meeting within the framework of the «Global Development Trends: Opportunities and Risks for Russia» project.
The project is aimed at assessing current and potential world development trends, as well as developing an understanding of the role and Russia’s position a in the world in the medium and long term.
On September 11, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), hosted the first expert meeting within the framework of the «Global Development Trends: Opportunities and Risks for Russia» project.
The project is aimed at assessing current and potential world development trends, as well as developing an understanding of the role and Russia’s position a in the world in the medium and long term.
The first seminar focusing on "Global Trends and Russia’s Position in the World", was devoted to the methodological study of the ways to analyze global risks and challenges Russia is facing at the present stage. The discussion covered a wide range of issues: the future impact of technological development on human capital and labor markets, the opportunities and risks of choosing the strategy of a "besieged fortress", the potential of integration projects as an alternative to domestic reforms, etc.
The meeting was attended by leading experts — economists, political scientists, international experts — from the Higher School of Economics, Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Science (IMEMO), MGIMO Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eurasian Development Bank, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
A series of expert meetings and publication of a number of expert materials are planned in the course of the project implementation.
