Having emphasized that the bilateral relationship is rising to the strategic partnership level to become a major factor for stabilizing regional and international security, the sides focused on Iran’s nuclear problem and expressed satisfaction about progress at the six-party talks of international mediators and Tehran. To a great extent, the success can be attributed to the flexible and constructive stance of Iranian leaders. Since the environment for tackling the conundrum is at hand, missing the chance seems nonsensical.
Dr. Ivanov and Dr. Kharrazi also pointed out the significance of expanding cooperation between the civil society organizations and representatives of the two countries.
RIAC continues its Russia-Iran research, and has marked the previous year by publishing working paper “Modern Russian-Iranian Relations: Challenges and Opportunities” and holding international conference “Development of Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran.”
