Collaboration between the two think tanks is based on the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed in 2016 within the framework of the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China in the presence of the heads of the two states.

Annual international conference “Russia and China: Cooperation in the New Era” is the flagship project for RIAC and CASS. In 2020, the Sixth Conference was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Council and the Academy also hold regular expert roundtables and release joint papers on pending international issues.
