On June 24, 2020, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, held an online working meeting with Theodore Murphy, Director for the Africa Program at the European Council for Foreign Relations. Andrey Kortunov spoke about RIAC Africa project portfolio, the current areas of the Council's research, publications on topics related to Africa, and plans for the future. Theodore Murphy shared EU vision on Russia’s foreign policy in Africa.

The parties agreed to prepare and conduct a virtual expert meeting in order to identify possible areas for cooperation.
RIAC was also represented at the meeting by Tatyana Bogdasarova, RIAC Program Coordinator, and Lora Chkoniya, RIAC Program Coordinator. Participants on the ECFR side included Kadri Liik, Senior Policy Fellow, and Denica Yotova, Program Coordinator, Africa Program.
