On December 10, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), together with the Delegation of the European Union to Russia, held a workshop on relations between Russia and the EU at present and in the future. It was the fifteenth meeting prepared within the framework of the project "Russia and EU: Partnership Opportunities and Building of a Think Tank Network" (EUREN).
On December 10, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), together with the Delegation of the European Union to Russia, held a workshop on relations between Russia and the EU at present and in the future. It was the fifteenth meeting prepared within the framework of the project "Russia and EU: Partnership Opportunities and Building of a Think Tank Network" (EUREN).
The speakers of the workshop included: Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union, RIAC Member; Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; Kadri Liik, Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations; and Luc Pierre Devigne, Deputy Managing Director for Russia, Eastern partnership, Europe, Central Asia, and OSCE at European External Action Service. As part of the workshop, the participants discussed the report “Alternative Futures of EU-Russia Relations in 2030”. Sabine Fischer, Team Leader of the "Public Diplomacy. EU and Russia" project, Head of the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Research Division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin; and Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs, moderated the discussion. During the discussion, the authors answered the questions of the workshop participants.
The event was attended by RIAC members and experts, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RAS Institute of Europe, RAS IMEMO, Saint Petersburg State University, MGIMO, HSE, German Institute for International and Security Affairs, European Council on Foreign Relations, International Crisis Group, as well as experts from other European think tanks. Natalya Vyakhireva, RIAC Program Manager, and Yulia Timofeeva, RIAC Program Assistant, also took part in the event.
