On June 18, 2020, RIAC held a virtual expert meeting as part of the Russian Strategy in Africa project.
Peking University is the project partner in the area of Russia-China interaction in Africa.
RIAC was represented at the meeting by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Tatyana Bogdasarova, RIAC Program Coordinator, Lora Chkoniya, Program Coordinator, and Olga Kulkova, RIAC Expert, Senior Research Fellow at RAS Institute for African Studies.

Experts from Peking University included: Lei Shaohua, Xu Liang, Jin Seong-Jae, and Liu Haifang, headed by Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at the School of International Studies, Peking University.
The experts discussed pending issues for African countries in a pandemic, the role and the impact of the global economic crisis on the countries of the continent. Chinese experts presented some China’s approaches and policies in Africa and a vision of the possibilities for interaction between Russia and China in Africa.
One of the outcomes of the project will be a joint Russian-Chinese report analyzing the strategies of Russia and China in Africa and providing recommendations for the governments of both countries. The participants also discussed the upcoming project activities to promote the project outcomes in Moscow and Beijing.
