On August 26–27, 2018, management team and a group of experts and members of Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) took part in European Forum in Alpbach (Austria, Tyrol). The Forum is known as one of the most prestigious venues for exchanging views among representatives of the European political elite.
Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs, Aleksey Gromyko, RIAC Member, Director of the RAS Institute of Europe, and Sergey Utkin, RIAC expert, Head of Section at Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations (RAS IMEMO), represented RIAC at the event.
The
sessions with the participation of RIAC were based on the results of the
long-term "EU-Russia Expert Network on Foreign Policy" (EUREN)
project, which is being conducted jointly with the EU Delegation in Moscow.

The sessions with the participation of RIAC were based on the results of the long-term "EU-Russia Expert Network on Foreign Policy" (EUREN) project, which is being conducted jointly with the EU Delegation in Moscow. The project resulted in preparing an analytical report and a series of recommendations to the political leadership of Russia and the EU aimed at overcoming stagnation in relations and further development of the relations.
The report was authored by Sabine Fischer (EU) and Ivan Timofeev (Russia).
The sessions with the participation of RIAC were attended by high-ranking officials and heads of international organizations: Thomas Greminger, OSCE Secretary General; Karin Kneissl, Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs; Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation; Alexander Marschik, Political Director of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria; Stavros Lambrinidis, European Union's Special Representative for Human Rights, etc.
It is planned to concentrate on further development of EU-Russia Expert Network on Foreign Policy.
