On April 25, 2014 Russian International Affairs Council received a delegation of the Institute of Iran Eurasian Studies (IRAS). The two sides signed a bilateral cooperation agreement for joint projects implementation aimed at assisting strengthening of Russia-Iran relations and cooperation in tackling regional and global problems, conducting joint scientific conferences, expert-level consultations, roundtables and other public events, exchanging analytical papers, and providing reciprocal information support.

The two sides signed a bilateral cooperation agreement for joint projects implementation aimed at assisting strengthening of Russia-Iran relations and cooperation in tackling regional and global problems, conducting joint scientific conferences, expert-level consultations, roundtables and other public events, exchanging analytical papers, and providing reciprocal information support.  

The event was attended by IRAS website editor-in-chief Ahmad Vakhshiteh, IRAS researcher Shafiya Farzaneh, Iranian Embassy First Secretary Sayed Abdulreza Musawi, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov, Program Director Ivan Timofeev, and Program Manager Elena Alekseenkova.

 

The participants discussed RIAC's report "Modern Russian-Iranian Relations: Challenges and Opportunities" and agreed to elaborate as soon as possible a plan for joint research of the bilateral relationship, highlighting mutual interest in analysis of issues related with Afghanistan, Central Asia, the Caspian, radicalism and extremism.
