On November 26–27, 2018, Cadenabbia (Italy) hosted a
seminar “The Mediterranean: Challenges and Opportunities” on the margins of
Istanbul Security Conference. The event was organized by the Turkish office of
Konrad Adenauer Foundation, with the support of Başkent University (Turkey) and
Middle East University (Turkey).
On November 26–27, 2018, Cadenabbia (Italy) hosted a seminar “The Mediterranean: Challenges and Opportunities” on the margins of Istanbul Security Conference. The event was organized by the Turkish office of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, with the support of Başkent University (Turkey) and Middle East University (Turkey). During the event, over 30 participants from Germany, Israel, Libya, Turkey, Italy, and Cyprus discussed the issues of the Eastern Mediterranean region: armed conflicts and civil confrontations, the role of non-regional players, prospects for developing hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, and opportunities for developing cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Elena Alekseenkova, RIAC Program Manager, represented Russian International Affairs Council and gave a presentation on the Russian vision of challenges and opportunities in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
