On July 31, 2024, a closed round table “Russia and Iran: Approaches Towards Security and Economic Development in the South Caucasus Region” was held. Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Governance and Policy Think Tank (GPTT) organized the meeting. The goal of the round table was to discuss Russia’s and Iran’s approaches to security and economic development in the South Caucasus. The meeting was attended by leading experts from Russia and Iran.

The goal of the round table was to discuss Russia’s and Iran’s approaches to security and economic development in the South Caucasus. The meeting was attended by leading experts from Russia and Iran.

From the RIAC side, the meeting was attended by: Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Director; Sergey Markedonov, Leading Research Fellow, Institute for International Studies, MGIMO University; Stanislav Pritchin, Head of Central Asia Sector, Center for post-Soviet Studies, IMEMO RAS; Lana Ravandi-Fadai, Senior Researcher, Central Eurasia Research Center, Institute of Oriental Studies of the RAS; Alina Vernigora, Junior Research Fellow, Group of Risk Assessment, Center for Strategic Planning Studies, IMEMO RAS.

From the GPTT side, the meeting was attended by: Mohammad Sadegh Imamian, Co-Founder of GPTT, Assistant Professor in Public Policy and Regulation Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic); Ruhollah Modaber, Senior Expert on Eurasian issues, Leading Research Fellow; Dariush Safarnejad Senior Expert on Eurasian issues and International Relations; Mahmoud Shouri, Deputy Director of the Institute of Iran-Eurasia Studies (IRAS), Senior Expert on Eurasian issues; Ahmad Kazemi, Faculty Member of Islamic Azad University Central Organization, Law Department, Senior Author and Researcher in the field of Caucasus and Eurasia.

Milan Lazovich, RIAC Program Coordinator, moderated the discussion. Ivan Bocharov, RIAC Program Coordinator; Anna Korzun, RIAC Program Referent, took part in the event.
