On January 13-15, 2016 the Russian Presidential Academy of the National Economy and Public Administration held in Moscow a regular meeting of the Gaidar Forum. It was attended by theorists and practitioners, the world's leading scholars and politicians, representatives of the Russian political establishment. The forum hosted events of different level and scale: plenary sessions, expert round tables and panel discussions. The moderators of the Forum were senior politicians and influential experts: Russian government officials, representatives of regional authorities, leading national and foreign economists.

Active involvement of students and young scientists in the meeting’s work as panelists and speakers has been an important feature of the Forum. Discussions at the Forum focused on acute present-day problems. Particular attention was paid to issues related to assessing the position and strategic role of Russia in the world.
RIAC Director General Andrei Kortunov, Fyodor Lukyanov, RIAC member and Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs magazine and Chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, Sergey Ryabkov, RIAC member and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as Alexander Gabuev, Chair of Russia in the Asia-Pacific Program at Carnegie Moscow Center and RIAC expert, took part in an expert discussion “Great Powers, Great Challenges: the Evolving World Order.”
