On November 22, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Bertelsmann Foundation held a seminar on Russia and EU Interests in the Middle East.
Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Director of Programs, made an opening speech. Stefan Meister, Head of the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), made a presentation of EU work group project on the strategy of the key states in the Middle East. The sides discussed the conceptual vision of the Middle East by non-regional actors, the difference in their approaches, the state of the current crisis in the region, and the possibilities for EU-Russia cooperation to stabilize the situation in the Middle East.
