On October 31, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the Asian Institute of Eco-civilization, Research, and Development (AIERD, Pakistan) held a roundtable «BRICS Cooperation with the Global South».

Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Director, Dr Ashfaq Hassan, Dean of Economic Faculty at the National University of Sciences & Technology, Peter Topychkanov, Head of Section for New Challenges in South and Southeast Asia at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of RAS, Dr Abid Q Suleri, Executive Director of Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Julia Melnikova, RIAC Program Manager, Mushahid Syed, Senator, Ex-Federal minister of the Republic of Pakistan, Major General Muhammad Samrez Salik took part in the event.

The participants of the discussion noted the growing role of BRICS in the transformation of the world order and the development of more inclusive and equitable formats of interaction between the “world majority” countries. Experts highlighted de-dollarization and the transition to the use of national currencies in trade between the countries among the priority tasks of the association
