On November 9–10, 2020, Peking University hosted the seventh meeting of the “North Pavilion Dialogue”, an annual high-level international seminar focusing on topical issues of international relations and security.
The meeting gathered former foreign ministers and other high-ranking officials: Kevin Rudd, former Australian Prime Minister; Nabil Fahmy, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt; Yoriko Kawaguchi, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan; Kim Sung-hwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea; George Yeo, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore; Shivshankar Menon, former National Security Adviser of India under Prime Minister of India; Joseph Nye, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs; John Negroponte, former US Deputy Secretary of State; Marty Natalegawa, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia; David Miliband, former Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom; as well as leading Chinese and foreign experts on international affairs, including Dai Bingguo, renowned Chinese politician and diplomat.
The theme of the “North Pavilion Dialogue” 2020 is defined as “Global Trends in the Context of the U.S. Presidential Election and the Future of China-the U.S. Strategic Relationship”. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, traditionally represented Russia at the event, he made a report on the topic: “Joe Biden Administration: Opportunities and Challenges for Russia’s Foreign Policy”.
