On February 19, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council hosted an expert meeting “Cooperation between the EU and the EEU: Realities and Opportunities.” The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the expediency of and prospects for international research on the subject.
On February 19, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council hosted an expert meeting “Cooperation between the EU and the EEU: Realities and Opportunities.” The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the expediency of and prospects for international research on the subject.
The issues discussed by experts at the meeting were as follows:
1. Perception of the EEU by the European Union.
2. Do the EU and the EEU share common interests?
3. What are the major potential directions of cooperation?
4. Mechanisms of the EU cooperation with other integration formations of the world: is any analogy possible?
5. Prospects for dialogue in terms of the EU-EEU-China’s Silk Road Economic Belt interaction.
The experts paid particular attention to possible formats of cooperation between the EU and the EEU and to the areas where such cooperation could be established in the near future.
The event was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Eurasian Development Bank, as well as by experts of RIAC, HSE-University, MGIMO-University, the Institute of Economics and the Institute of CIS countries of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and others.
