On August 5, 2015, Russian International Affairs Council hosted the presentation of book “Political Portraits of Statesmen of Middle East” held jointly with Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. Opened by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov, the event was attended by Russian diplomats, leading experts and media members, who listened to speeches by Ambassador Veneamin Popov, Deputy Chairman of Bank of Russia Alexander Torshin and Academic Advisor of RAS Institute for Oriental Studies Vitaly Naumkin.

The MGIMO-University publishing branch has prepared a collection of biographical sketches of most remarkable political figures of the Middle East known in the second half of the 20th and in early 21st centuries, among them Yasser Arafat, Muammar Kaddafi, David Ben-Gurion, Saddam Hussein and others. Two sketches were authored by the late Academician Eugeny Primakov, former Chairman of RIAC Board of Trustees.
